I’ve taught A-Level Geography for seven years, with most of my tutoring focused on physical geography and exam preparation. Coasts and hazards are probably my favourite areas to teach. I spend quite a bit of lesson time looking at how students use case studies rather than simply memorising them. We also work through past questions regularly, particularly the longer essays where structure and evaluation really matter.

Hi, I’m a Geography tutor with four years of experience helping A-Level students online. I was the student who actually enjoyed drawing drainage basin diagrams, so rivers and water cycles are still topics I like teaching! My sessions are fairly relaxed and usually involve a mixture of discussion, diagrams and exam questions. I’m also happy to read essays between lessons and give students straightforward feedback on what needs improving.

I have nine years’ experience teaching A-Level Geography and particularly enjoy the human side of the course, including globalisation, changing places and migration. A lot of students come to me knowing the content but struggling to turn it into a strong written argument. I therefore place considerable emphasis on essay planning, selecting useful evidence and making judgements that actually answer the question rather than simply repeating a case study.

Geography became my favourite subject at school because it explained so much of what I was seeing in the news, and that is something I try to bring into my lessons now. We look closely at command words, paragraph development and where evaluation should appear naturally in an answer.
